Yesterday at Overstone Golf Course the golfers had a junior competition. Most of the Ecton Brook golfers were away on their holidays, but it was perfect weather for the other children that attended.
Lily-Mae (who started her Scholarship with Ecton Brook) is a regular trainee at Overstone. She currently has a handicap of 55 and I was delighted to be informed that she will probably be playing golf at county level next year.
Her father is now also a keen golfer as he not only attends all of Lily-Mae’s golf lessons (as her caddy), but he has now taken up golf himself so that they can both play whilst spending time together.

After school Ecton Brook played Bellinge in a KS2 football match. Some great football was played by both sides. Both sides were coached by Mr Tyler and Mr Watson.
It was nice to see some Year 3 and 4 boys playing with Year 5 and 6 and holding their own. The spectators were treated to a game full of skill, enthusiasm and teamwork.
Here is a report from Louix a year 5 pupil who played yesterday.
This morning both sites came together for the Young Leaders review.
They were asked to recognise leader qualities, plan their young leader sessions for success and to review their STEP (Space, Task, Equipment & People) skills.
Everyone contributed to the review and were recharged with new ideas.
The girls football club for KS2 has grown in numbers. Mr Tyler who trains the girls says there is still spaces for more girls to join the club.
It was nice for me to go along today and see how much they have improved.
As well as the Magic Mile, Class 12 complete the Joe Wicks workout 2x a week. They have also took on the 30 day plank challenge.
The whole class are getting fitter by the day, the individual improvement and core strength is apparent to see.
Well done and keep up the good work.
This morning I went along to the gymnastics club to see how their training was going.
The girls were all enjoying the routines and the advice and coaching they received from a Becky.
Keep up the good work girls.
Yesterday after school was the Basketball Competition for year 5/6. We went with a large squad so we could have rolling subs.
As well as playing each team had to keep the score, line judge, 2nd ref and time keep.
Overall we played well which showed as we grew in confidence and won a match. We came 4th in the competition and we are planning to have an intra competition at school.

Yesterday (Sunday) 4 members of Ecton Brook staff travelled to London to run in the Winter Run.
It was extremely busy with 20,000 running the 10k, we ran past St Paul’s Cathedral and other iconic landmarks. The streets were closed off, with choirs, steel pans, penguins and snowmen lining the route.
It was a brilliant day.

On Saturday 03/02/18 Mrs Townsend from Ecton Brook School attended her first Parkrun in preparation for the NPAT Parkrun in May.
If anyone is interested in coming along to either watch or participate to get an idea and feel for how a Parkrun operates please contact me as NPAT staff will always be there to welcome you and walk/run with you.
Well done to Mrs Townsend.
